Source: https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/stockjo01/gamelog/2002/#1398-1422-sum:pgl_basic With Chris Paul playing at an elite level at 36 years old I decided to see which other players in NBA history at the point guard position also played great basketball late in their career. While doing that I came across this impeccable stretch of basketball by John Stockton who at age 40 was still playing at an extremely high level. Ill be honest despite being a Jazz fan and knowing that Stockton had elite longevity I didnt know that he still played *this well* this late in his career. In 2001-02, he was fifth in the league in assists (8.2), sixth in field goal percentage (.517), and 10th in steals (1.85). Did I mention he was 40? For reference, through 28 games this season, 35 year old Chris Paul is averaging 17/5/9 on 50% shooting from the field and I feel like his game will continue to age as gracefully as Stockton’s did. Do you think these two players are under appreciated in all-time point guard debates? Players like Magic, Oscar and Steph get a lot of hype and rightfully so but I think Stock and CP3 are also top 5 point guards all-time. Where do you rank them?
