I’m taking Lebron tbh. More versatile. Kobe was good but his defense in his prime took a back seat to his offense. Lebron was a legit two way monster; maybe the best two player in history in 2013; could guard 1-5 on one end and split through the defense in seconds on the other.
LeBron but it is very close
I think it’s not very close because Kobe’s defensive prime and overall prime don’t overlap. There’s two ways to interpret this. What I mean is; Kobe in his defensive prime was from 1998-99 to 2002-03 mostly. Kobe in his defensive prim
no it isnt one finished 2nd in DPOY twice
LeBrons more versatile, but Kobe was the better defender when it came to guarding his own position. 9 All-Defensive First Teams and 12 overall speaks for itself. Thats the most All-Defensive teams of any guard in NBA history btw, even more than MJ and Gar
Prime Kobe wasn’t guarding the other team’s best player like Lebron
Lebron is a better defender (when he tries) simply due to his size. Both are super athletic but Lebron can body up with a bigger guy in a way Kobe can’t.
LeBron overall. Kobe better perimeter defender
If Kobe’s defense took a backseat to his offense in his prime, why did he get multiple 1st team All-Defense nods?
Or maybe cause he was you know, an elite defender, but I suppose that doesn’t fit your narrative.
I can see this post getting downvoted to the depths of reddit but anyway Defensive prime Lebron: 2009- 2014 Kobe: 1998-2004 Kobes best defensive years came in 1998 and 2000. While he wasnt a lockdown defender, he could still keep elite scorers in check
