Zion is an amazing athlete who projects as a star but not sure that he’ll ever be better than AD is now. The Knicks were on the short list of teams that AD said he would re-sign with if traded to. You would also have to think that he would not be going to NY alone as the Knicks would probably be able to sign at least one other star to play with him. But it could be enticing for the Knicks to have such a huge draw playing at MSG.
Only if theyre sure they can get another superstar to pair with him.
No. Keep Zion. You have no guarantee Davis will re-sign. You have Zion under contract for years.
Theres more risk on the Zion side because you dont know that hell be good. You can have a top 7 player for one season, and probably keep them for 5 more seasons. Or... You can have an unproven rookie with questions over how hell translate to the NBA
If they traded for him hes resign.
That’s not how that works.
You dont know that for a fact. You dont take that big of risk on trading a potential superstar for a 1 year rental.
Depends if they land KD or Kyrie. Or anyone.
Yeah. They would have to decide if they’re going through a rebuild and plan on developing some players. Or if they can sign some big name FAs for a “win now” mode.
Don’t they have enough cap space to sign two super stars? If they do they could sign two free agents and also get Zion while losing less assets. I also think Drafting Zion would be more exciting for Knick’s fans.
Zion is a bigger get than AD. (NOT a better player). Hes more exciting, better looking, and hasnt bungled his way into villain status.
How do you have lakers next to your name? Just wondering.
If it doesnt cost too much. If its Zion and thats it? Absolutely.
Absolutely not. Thats a straight robbery for the pelicans who have 0 leverage. Only trade for ad if we get #2 or below, and hold on to mitch rob for dear life.
What? 1 First Rounder for one of the best players to ever lace up sneakers? You gotta be joking.
If they dont land not one, but two superstars, then trade. If not build around Zion, Meech, Dotson, Knox, Trier and DSJ
Am I crazy for thinking Zion is more valuable than AD? Surely Zion for the next 8 years is worth more than an expiring AD?
Who is to say the Knicks keep Zion for 8 seasons? Also I’d say the chances that Zion becomes as good as AD are probably like 10%.
He’d be a RFA after his rookie deal. I mean things could change and he could demand a trade but we can technically keep him for 8 years if we really wanted to
Nah, Im keeping Zion. AD hasnt proven he can stay healthy for full seasons and his agent is still Rich Paul. Am I supposed to trust that he wont take a meeting with the Lakers in 2020?
If they can get KD and Kyrie then trade for AD, yes they should do it. The only way it backfires is if Zion becomes a GOAT tier player and Kyrie retires in two years.
If KD and/or Kyrie arrive, then YES! The knicks will be in win now mode.
I dont think I would, it feels like a very Knicks-move and those have never worked in the past.
I would say only if that is what it takes to attract another star. If two stars are already signing, I would rather keep Zion if I were them. Its less risky and allows more cap flexibility. Having that kind of talent on the cheap for multiple years is hug
Only if it’s guaranteed he would re-sign
Only if they sign two top tier free agents first.
Zion is one of those prospects you just don´t trade.
Unless its for an already proven generational talent like AD. Zion could be a bust for all we know.
Its not ad, its the fact that the pelicans have 0 leverage and are actively trying to get rid of ad who is going to leave no matter what. Pelicans say yes in a heartbeat for zion straight up.
No, Davis is a prospect you dont trade. Zion is an unproven college kid.
