Some background: I first got into sports just 3 maybe 4 years back starting with Football (NFL/CFB) and i’ve gained tons of knowledge over that time and i’d say i know a good amount more than the average fan. I want to start expanding the sports i follow and thought i’d start with basketball (NBA/College) but i don’t know how to approach it as it feels like there’s so much to it and history to learn. How should i approach learning the game other than just watching random games on TV? My only knowledge to start really is just some players team names and that the Warriors are sorta the equivalent to the Patriots of the NFL lmao.
Watch the playoffs, get a feel for the game, worry about learning history and stuff once the season is over
Yao Ming highlights on YouTube. Thank me later.
Stay the hell away from this sub. Or at least dont sort by new.
Kinda seriously though. Develop your own opinions on the sport and all the crazy talented players. This sub is notorious for putting other teams and players down to make others look better. That and the ridiculous recency bias. Playing 2k and /r/nbastream
but seriously. dont get any preconceived notions from this sub, especially around right now. people will make insane overreactions or sweeping generalizations about players and teams that you may latch onto. at the very least, take everything said here
Play NBA 2K.
this honestly isnt bad advice lmao
What i was thinking as well. I do own 2K19 just haven’t played. Which mode do you think would be the best to learn?
MyLeague if you wanna learn how to manage a team and how the process of the season unfolds.
Watch games, documentaries. Pick your team and watch tapes and videos illustrating the history of the team. Over time, you’ll gain knowledge and learn what players do etc. With this being said, focus on the playoffs at the moment.
As unbiased as possible and obviously straying from being a total bandwagon which teams would be best to hop on? I live in California but for football i root for Arizona teams (Which are unbearably awful) but i’m not exclusive to certain locations to ro
Well you could root for the Phoenix Suns but the team is steaming pile of shit. With this being said, they have great young talent in Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton. Honestly, I can’t tell you which team to root for, that all comes down to you. However,
You root for the Warriors if you want to enjoy it. The Knicks if you dont.
